Christmas is a time for cheer, happiness and love. While these sentiments are encouraged all year round, they are undoubtedly heightened during the festive season. There’s no better way to experience the Christmas magic than by visiting the capital city of Malta, Valletta.

 

Valletta is brimming with activities during the festive season and, being a cultural city, one can expect a variety of significant events taking place between November and January.

Christmas Village at Valletta Waterfront

The Christmas spirit starts with a bang on the 1st of December at the Valletta Waterfront. Christmas decor, music, food and activities will take place for all the family. Witness the 35-foot Christmas tree and join in the Christmas carols and admire the traditional cribs. Children’s activities will also take place to ensure everyone has a great time.

The Little Mermaid Pantomime

Every year, a spectacular pantomime is staged at the marvellous Manoel Theatre in Valletta. This year, it’s time for The Little Mermaid to take centre stage! From the 22nd December to the 5th of January, you can enjoy a spectacular show full of laughter, warmth and a feel-good factor.

 

The Malta International Christmas Choir Festival

This year, the Malta International Christmas Choir Festival will be held between the 5th and 9th December 2019. There will be a number of choirs participating in the festival, ranging from male, female, youth, and gospel to folk choirs.

Valletta Baroque Festival

The 8th edition of the Valletta Baroque Festival will feature a stellar line-up of local and international artists, performing wonderful music from Monteverdi to Bach and beyond. The Valletta Baroque festival will take place between 10th January and 25th January 2020.

Three Palaces Festival

A unique festival that seeks to integrate excellent music with stunning settings, the Three Palaces Festival comes to life between the 1st and 10th November 2019. Performances will take place at three wonderful Baroque Palaces: San Anton Palace in Attard, Verdala Palace in Siggiewi, and the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta, as well as the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta!
