A cutting-edge festival will be transforming Valletta into a stage for all kinds of science-themed events, as Science in the City 2019 returns to the capital on 27 September 2019. The festival will be communicating the latest research and scientific developments related to this year’s theme – ‘The Science of YOU’ – to engage people of all ages in an interactive manner. From science shows to jazz, theatre events to live experiments, and Virtual Reality to a giant glass tower – Science in the City has something for everyone.

Since its very first edition in 2012, the Science in the City festival has become a highly-anticipated event in the local cultural calendar. Different activities will be held all throughout the city – from the Triton’s Fountain at the entrance to the city, all the way to Freedom Square and Castille Square. The festival is part of the EU-wide event titled ‘European Researchers’ Night’, which is held in over 300 cities at the same time. Making Science Accessible to All

This year’s theme is centred on YOU, and will be exploring scientific advancements related to the individual person. The different stalls and installations will be exploring a wide range of scientific topics, including genetics, cognitive science, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, cloud computing, nanotechnology, synthetic biology, medicine and many more!

 

The events kick off at 6pm and will go on until midnight. There will be a number of events directed towards younger children, as well as discussions that invite teenagers and adults to share their ideas.
