The Malta International Christmas Choir Festival

The Malta International Christmas Choir Festival is back! Following its successful first edition last year, the festival is returning to the Maltese Islands between the 5th and 9th of December 2019. The event brings together audiences who appreciate the angelic sound of choir music, all within the wondrous settings across Malta and Gozo. The organisers have just announced the full programme for this year’s festival, and we can already see that it’s going to be spectacular!

 

So, if you’re travelling to Malta this December, take a look at the various shows taking place across the islands for a healthy dose of festive spirit!

 

International Choirs

There are 27 choirs participating in the second edition of the Malta International Christmas Choir Festival, including eight local choirs and 19 foreign ones. The talented choir groups include male, female, youth, gospel and folk choirs, so you’re sure to experience a good variety of music. The international choirs include the Suvalkija St.Cecilija Choir, Con Moto Chamber Choir, Harmonija Choir, Lazdiju Kulturos Centro Kamerinis Choras Gaustas and the Viva Voce Choir from Lithuania, the Cor Llevant, Coral Polifonica de Mera, Coral Municipal Molto Vivace and the Escolania Salve de Laredo from Spain, the Coro Cai l’Aquila, Harmonia Mundi Choir, Coro del Club Alpino Italiano and the Coro Polifonico Ouverture from Italy, the Prof. George Dimitrov Choral School and the Teacher’s Choir Ars Musica from Bulgaria, RITSIK Choir from Estonia, the Maynooth Education Campus Chamber Choir from Ireland, the Wide Valley Singers from the UK and the Byzantine Voices from Greece.

 

Moreover, local choirs include the Notre Dame Choir, Vocal Lane Choir, Sine Macula Choir, Amadeus Chamber Choir, Mary’s Angels Choir, St. Julian’s Choral Group, Assumpta Est Choir, and the Moodswing Choir.

The Malta International Christmas Choir Festival will take place in numerous churches across Malta and Gozo, with the final night being held at the Mosta Basilica on Sunday 8th December. The other festival concerts will be held as follows:

6th December:

8th December: Participation of International Choirs In Sunday Masses
