Taste the finest brews from around the world at the Malta Craft Beer Festival 2019

Nothing says ‘summer’ like a good old craft beer. And what better way is there to spend your summer holiday than by tasting the flavours of the world in one of Malta’s most prominent historical sites, Fort St Elmo?

A Taste of History

After its successful first edition, the Malta Craft Beer Festival will return to Fort St Elmo in Valletta between 30 August and 1 September 2019. Fort St Elmo, which was built by the Order of the Knights of St John in 1552, played an important role during the Great Siege of 1565. It guards both of Malta’s major harbours in Valletta – the Grand Harbour and Marsamxett – and is now home to Malta’s National War Museum. Fort St Elmo is less than a 10 minute walk from AX The Saint John, so you can enjoy as many beers as you like without worrying about finding your way back to your hotel room.

In addition, the festival will showcase a number of local craft beers, including the Gallery, The Brew and Tuff Cider craft beers from Malta, as well as Lord Chambray craft beer from the island of Gozo! Each craft beer is unique in taste, and the quirky packaging is sure to catch your eye.

The Malta Craft Beer Festival is more than just a beer festival

The Malta Craft Beer Festival 2019 will also be serving some delicious food to complement the curated selection of fine brews. Food will be prepared by The Fork & Cork, KuYa Asian Pub, Manouche Craft Bakery and the Pulled Meat Company – so, whether you’re a carnivore, vegan, vegetarian or gluten-sensitive, they’ve got you covered!

Some of Malta’s most popular bands, including Airport Impressions and The Busker, will also be playing live music throughout the Festival. Want more? Informative beer workshops will be held for both beer aficionados and newcomers to learn about the craft of making craft beers.

How does it work?

Your ticket will be exchanged for tokens that can be traded for beer from any of the craft beer stalls. For each token, you’ll get a 15cl pour from the draught, while two tokens will get you a 33cl pour or a bottled beer. A selection of special beers will also be available at a higher token cost. And if your tokens run out, you’ll be able to get more from the token point. If you don’t manage to finish your tokens, then you can exchange them for bottled beers and take them back home with you!
